"Artoni" is a small chamber orchestra in Baarn, conducted by Ali Groen, consisting of advanced amateur musicians.
The orchestra is now in its fifth year. In that time we have played music from the baroque to the 20th century, with young soloists who are given the opportunity to perform with an orchestra for the first time, as well as with soloists from our own members.
We have a full wind instrumentation: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons and 2 horns. Ideally we need at least 4 first and 4 second violins, 3 violas, 3 cellos and a string bass. Of course it could be more....
This chamber-orchestra setting lends itself to a certain repertoire. Artoni's programmes consist of well-known chamber-orchestra pieces, as well as lesser-known gems. Of course we do not play works that require a larger symphony orchestra.
The smaller setting requires the full participation of every player. Here you cannot hide in the back of the orchestra! We strive to be an orchestra that functions as a well-balanced unit. That's why you play in an orchestra .... to make music together! Our rehearsals are focused on ensemble and balance.
We are currently in need of two 1st violins, one 2nd violin, and a viola.
